After making several trips into downtown Olongapo City, I found that I could not buy an external hard drive enclosure locally. Even the places that could order one, could only order the kind for SATA hard drives. I'm starting to think external hard drive enclosures for IDE hard disk drives are no longer being made. What the retailers had in stock were the kind of external hard drive units I don't want, with hard drives already in them.

There are five (5, count 'em) accessories I think laptop road warriors should consider, especially if they have a notebook or a mini notebook (a netbook by any other name would, well, you know) keyboard which isn't quite big enough for their fat fingers. A relative newcomer in the computer hardware industry is the solid-state drive (SSD). The latest SSD drives feature state-of-the-art NAND flash chips and an ultra-fast controller. The new solid-state drives have some advantages over the traditional hard disk drives (HDD) and have their fare share of disadvantages as well.
